OrganRXTM Tissue builds quality, transplantable tissue for organ repair needs. Using the advanced biomimetic OrganRXTM technologies allows for the construction of functional organ tissue for therapeutic discoveries.
The multi-organ recirculation system (OrganRXTM) provides passive gravity-driven unidirectional shear flow to multi-organ culture. The OrganRXTM plate can accommodate multiple micro-organs such as liver, gut, kidney and brain.
The organ plate is an injection molded glass bottom disposable plate. The users can populate the plate with primary cells, cell lines or IPS cells and mature organs by media recirculation. Currently the plate has six multi-organ units.
We provide testing of compounds in 2-D and 3-D blood-brain-barrier tissue models. OrganRXTM enables determination of transport characteristics of novel compounds to/from the brain and other organs. - Applications

Biopico Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist (New position) to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate will have either a PhD degree in Biology (or related field) and experience in in vitro 3D cell culture. A successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional scientific research excellence, drug testing expertise, organizational skills, a commitment to detailed, accurate interpretation of results, and strong communication skills. Experience in the areas of in vitro brain models, cancer biology, immunology, ADME-Tox, 3D cell culture, and human microphysiological models are highly desirable. He/she will demonstrate an ability to work independently, but also a willingness to collaborate with other members of the scientific team.
Biopico Systems Inc. is a growing biotech company focused on improving drug discovery and development in the preclinical space through our OrganRXTM organ-on-a-chip technology. We partner with academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies to explore new applications, test existing and novel compounds within our OrganRXTM system products.
Responsibilities:
- Design experimental studies based on existing project plans and develop new projects
- Interact with other scientific leaders in industry and academia to innovate and solve scientific problems based on organ on a chip technology
- Execute all aspects of these experimental studies, including culturing 3-D organs, performing assays, conducting drug IC50 studies, fluorescence imaging, and analysis of resulting data.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of all data and results in specified forms.
- Present regular project updates (written and oral) to the scientific team.
- Prepare written reports for customers that clearly convey the methods and results of executed studies.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- PhD degree or post-doctoral experience in biology, biomedical engineering, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience is required
- Experience in 3D cell culture is required
- Must be proficient in designing and executing scientific studies and preparing written reports or results of such studies.
- Ability to read, understand, and execute complex protocols and project plans with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Excellent organizational skills with a commitment to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Expertise in drug discovery processes
- Track record of relevant publications in scientific journals
- Proficiency in communicating effectively with supervisor and scientific team members.
- Previous laboratory work experience with organ on a chip is preferred but not required.
